Analytics Without Surveillance

Privacy

You can answer almost every question a business actually asks without following anyone around the internet.

Name the question first

Most analytics setups collect everything and answer nothing. "Which page loses people before the form?" is a question with a small, specific measurement behind it. Start there and the data you need shrinks dramatically.

Aggregate beats individual

Counts, funnels and timings answer product questions. Individual session records answer curiosity. One of those carries legal weight, storage cost and a duty of care; the other usually does not earn its keep.

Consent is a design problem

A banner that nags until it wins is a dark pattern with a legal veneer. If the measurement genuinely needs no personal data, you may not need the banner at all, which is a better outcome than a well-designed one.

Speed is the hidden dividend

Third-party analytics is often the heaviest script on a page. Removing it frequently improves the very numbers it was installed to report, which makes the before-and-after awkward to read and worth doing anyway.
